Wright Family in Washington, Utah

It has been several months since I last updated my blog. Photography has kept me busy, but between that and everything else going on in my life, blogging has slipped. That's a shame, because it's one of my favorite parts of the process.

The Wright family was a delight to work with. A common thread is running through my life right now: children grow up and eventually leave. I know this is the way of things, and that it is good and right, but my heart aches more and more at the thought of anything shifting. I love having my children home with me. Because we homeschool, we do almost everything together, and I treasure it.

Kendra is one of those angels placed in my life who makes this stage of motherhood look possible. Not easy, but doable. Seeing the joy she has in watching her children make good choices and do good things gives me hope that I'll feel that same joy, even if my heart is shattered into a million pieces at the same time. We took these photos the day before her third son reported to the Missionary Training Center to prepare for his mission to Brazil for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I have only three more summers until my oldest leaves to serve a mission as well, and that feels like just a breath away. I don't know how I'll be when that day arrives, but I'm thankful for the people the Lord is placing in my life to help prepare and mentor me, people like Kendra. She has a beautiful family full of love and camaraderie, and I'm honored to have captured memories of them all together.
