Steve and Suzanne Lewis Family, Cedar Pocket, Arizona

We managed to squeeze in this sweet family session just in time for Christmas cards, and I’m so glad we did. I think I may have found a new favorite location to shoot—between the light, the landscape, and the Joshua trees, it was absolutely perfect. And, as always, the Lewis family was wonderful. They’re beautiful inside and out and always such naturals in front of the camera.

One of my favorite things about photographing in the desert is how beautifully neutral the landscape is. You can wear almost any color palette and it blends seamlessly with the backdrop. And the light—there’s truly something magical about it out here. Growing up in the desert, I never really noticed it, but becoming a photographer has made me appreciate just how unique and gorgeous it is.

I feel so lucky to capture moments for some of my very favorite people. It’s an honor to create these memories for my clients and my family, and sessions like this remind me why I love what I do.
