Ben and Janae Carter Family in Pine Valley, Utah
We spent the most amazing day with the Carter family! Ben’s family owns a beautiful property in Pine Valley, Utah, and they invited us up to spend the day at their family cabin. Suffice it to say—it was one of the best days ever for my kids. They played in the woods, rode 4-wheelers (or “quads,” as the cool kids say), learned to play air hockey and pool, and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows over a campfire while the stars blazed above.
The more time I spend with the Carters, the more I adore them. Ben and Janae are truly some of the best parents I’ve ever met. They lead their family with so much love and intention. Their daughters are engaging and kind, and their sons are respectful, fun, and full of life.
Honestly, that might have been my favorite part of the day—simply watching them together as a family. I loved seeing how kind and thoughtful they were with my children. I loved that Ben taught my boys that the ladies are served and eat first (and that he made those filthy little animals wash their hands before meals—turns out I’m not the only grown-up who insists on clean hands!). And I loved that Janae listened to me chatter away and shared her own stories and wisdom about motherhood.
As always, it was a joy to photograph them and capture a glimpse of their personalities through my lens. I’ll never forget this day—or how warmly the Carters made me and my family feel. It’s such an honor to know them and to have these memories preserved in photos.
