Family Photos at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens in Grapevine, TX

I love it when people are willing to meet me for a morning session. There is something slightly different about the light and having a fresh start to the day looking gorgeous. As soon as John, Jess and their sweet kids pulled up I was so excited to work with them. Not only did they all look spectacular, but I instantly noticed their sweet connection with one another. I also loved their son's blue hair. I had a purple hair for a while and I always love when I see cool hair colors.

Jess was so warm and open. My friend, Holly, had described Jess as genuine, kind and fun and I found all of that to be true. In fact, I wish I had more time to get to know her and her family better. They exude goodness and I am always so happy to meet people who instantly make you feel comfortable.I am an extrovert and I get so much fulfillment from interacting with new people. I love that I have photography as an avenue to connect me with old friends and to make new ones.

Photography is also a unique opportunity to see people when they are a bit vulnerable. I understand that having a picture taken can be intimidating or uncomfortable. We all try to look our best and cross our fingers that we will be happy when we see the final image. That vulnerability is actually a gift to me, the photographer. It gives me an opportunity to see a different side of someone than they would normally show to the rest of the world. Because of this, I feel love for my clients, even if we have just met. That might sound crazy, but it's true.

I barely know John, Jess and their children, but I am so thankful I was able to spend some time with them, to see their love for one another, and to feel of their goodness. After every family session I shoot, I come away changed for the better. Maybe over time, it will transform me into more of the person I would ultimately like to become. If I continue to work with clients like John and Jess, I'm sure it will.
